Last evening we went up and over the mountain to a nearby village. It was the first day of a week-long festa: band doing rock and roll, colored lights, food, wine, laughing people, kids running wild. Great fun. The festa (Italian spelling) season is just now starting and will run through the summer, each village having its turn. In August the whole area goes medieval and everyone gets in costume and runs horse races through city streets, jousting, dancing, and much drinking I imagine.
